With Indigenous Peoples' Day just around the corner, I invite you to entertain the opportunity to enhance relationships with your Native American community. What data are you and your colleagues presently collecting about the American Indian students in your county, district, or school? Upon reviewing your data, you may discover a student group that would be worthy of a Closing the Gap Intervention. Understanding that family engagement is one sure way to increase student outcomes; we encourage you to consider the practice of making a Land Acknowledgement at the beginning of school board meetings, faculty meetings, student assemblies, and family engagement events.

School Counseling Videos for School Administrators Now Available to the Public

Last year, the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP) partnered with Hatching Results and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) to create a six-part video series specifically designed for school administrators to better assist and support the implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program (CSCP). These short videos are set up in a talk-show format, hosted by ASWP Associate Director Kamrica Ary-Turner. Watch and learn useful tips and practical advice to implement as a school administrator, district lead, or school counselor. Schools across the state of Washington are improving their comprehensive school counseling programs (CSCP) by using the data collected from school counselor use of time assessment as a driver for change. In a recent webinar conducted with school counselors in Washington, participants stated that tracking their time provided the data to help administrators understand the role of school counselors and to make the changes needed to remove non-counseling activities from their work day.

Dr. Hatch Speaks in the Republic of Türkiye (Turkey)

Hatching Results was represented at the International Education Congress held on November 17-19 at the AKSA Hotel in Antalya, Turkey. Sponsored by Akdeniz University, Dr. Trish Hatch was the invited keynote speaker at the annual EDU Congress. Speaking to hundreds of university professors and state educators both in-person and online, Dr. Hatch opened the international conference by speaking on her favorite subject - “School Counseling: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, and Where We Are Going!” The following day, Dr. Hatch provided a 90-minute workshop to a well-attended audience titled, “The Use of Data in School Counseling: Making a Difference with Data Driven Practices.” Accompanying Dr. Hatch on this journey was her brother and longtime consultant with Hatching Results, Paul Meyers, who recently retired as superintendent of Standard School District in Bakersfield.
